WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 2020

This year, Unity of New York will not be holding any in-person World Day of Prayer events.

We are grateful to be joining Unity Worldwide Ministries from all over the world VIRTUALLY!

We welcome you to join thousands worldwide on September 9–10, 2020, for the 27th annual World Day of Prayer as we unite heart and mind with people from around the globe to affirm:

Standing in Truth, I move from fear to faith.

Unity World Day of Prayer is a chance for people of all faiths around the world to join Silent Unity, a 24/7 transdenominational prayer ministry, in celebration of prayer on September 9–10, 2020.

The annual 24-hour continuous prayer event will be broadcast online, encouraging all who participate to embrace the theme “From Fear to Faith” in affirmative prayer.

“When we at Unity conceived of ‘From Fear to Faith’ as the theme, we had no idea how urgently it would be needed,” said Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett, vice president of Unity Prayer Ministry.

“In the face of a world pandemic, political polarization, and pressing social justice issues, our ability to meet the needs of our times with faith, rather than exacerbate conditions by reacting in fear, provides spiritually-focused people a significant role in constructive change.”

The opening ceremony will take place the evening of Wednesday, September 9, featuring Unity ministers and the music of renowned musician Eddie Watkins Jr.

The livestream celebration will continue throughout the day on Thursday, September 10, with each event—including a bilingual prayer service in English and Spanish—broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube. Participants are also encouraged to submit names for prayer online and to light a virtual candle at worlddayofprayer.org
